I am trying to learn about checkpoint firewalls. Anyone know where I can get a configs for configuring a Ip 350?

I am super new. so any help will be appreciated.

i have a brand new Ip 350 and want to put an ip on it and try to learn how to config?

thanks

The first thing you want to do is get the voyager interface up and running ASAP.
Follow the basic install guide that comes with the ip350 (if you dont have one i will help you through)
To get started plug in a console cable and configue a machine to view it (windows hyper terminal is as easy as anything else)
9600 bps
8 data bits
no parity
1 stop bit

then power up the box
it should then ask for host name (if not i will step you through resetting)

Thanks for you help. I have that part done already but I thought I need to put an ip on the voyager in order for it to work.

If you have a number I can call. Please send it to ooowwee@yahoo.com. This way if it long distance I will call you.

Thanks again

Hi,

I have the NSA (Nokia Security Administrator) book in pdf if you want it. It is 8mb, I can setup an ftp server or something.

Is that simaler to the Nokia Network security solutions handbook (syngress)?
as i have that in pdf

On initial install just after entering the host name then password it asks if you want to
1 configure interface and use voyager
2 use vt100 lynx browser

at this point select1 and then enter interface info (IP mask....)

to clear existing config and try again

rm /config/active
or
mv /config/active /config/active.old

Thanks for the help.

If chris can get me the pdf book. I would like to get a copy. If you can set me up with a ftp

Is there any links you guys know where I can learn more about checkpoint.

I will probably take a checkpoint class in the summer.

The manuel I had didn't show how to configure the managment interface to use the voyager. I got it taken care of now. Thanks for yall's help.

Hi iluvkimchee,

If you email your email address I will replay with FTP details, chris.mcgill@phoenix.co.uk

I have Nokia book, CCSA CCSE and CCSE+ offical material from Check Point, three syngress checkpoint books and Installation, configuring and maintenance checkpoint book.

Cheers Also if you need R55 iso.

The IP350 that you have may not have the IPSO and/or checkpoint package that you want. The best way to do this,
IMHO, is to do a boot manager install on the IP350 so that you can get the IPSO image that you want. After that, you can go ahead and install the appropriate checkpoint package on this IP350.

P.S. Chris, sorry I've been so busy that I completely forgot to upload the NG AI R55 SecurePlatform CD image to your ftp server. I will do that shortly today.

Thanks guys i appreciate your help. Sorry it took a while to respond. I have been on travel lately.

Thanks again.

Hi all,
may I have one more question.
I'm in the same situation as iluvkimchee and after the installation
of IPSO + FW-1 FP3 we want to access the box via a GUI under
Solaris 8 and/or WindowsXP.
Which piece of S/W do we need for this operation is it called
"Smart clients for Solaris (Windows)"? Cost free?

Many thanks for your help!

Rainer
