I have multiple check boxes on a form and I want them to defaul to null when I add a new record - the problem is that as soon as data is started to be entered, they all change to 'NO'? What am I doing wrong?

A check box can (I think) only be yes/no, true/false etc. It does not have a third state.

Don't know about earlier versions, but in Access XP there are triple state checkboxes. Set the box's Triple State property to "Yes" and set its default value to Null. You'll notice that when you repeatedly click on such a checkbox, it cycles through all three values: True, False, and Null.

HTH...

Cheers Ken didn't notice that before Access 97 has it as well.
