does anyone know of a good adn fairly cheap cable/dsl router (sub $200) that would work good for a single remote ip phone. also a router for a few ip phones 4 or more

Linksys BEFVP41 would work for the single phone. For the multiple phones it would probably work as well, but not as reliably. I would try the Kentrox Q2300. They are fairly pricey, but they are great for this application.

I would agree with IPhello. The Kentox Q2300 would make a great choice for a router since it provides QoS on the router. What we have done recently is set the Kentrox up at the main site and DLink DI-804HV routers at remote sites for customers. The Kentox is pricy but teh D-Link runs around $50 to $70 depending on where you get them.

If you have only one phone, and dont need QoS, go for Multitech RF550 routers they are working fine and cost around 150-200$

For only one phone, and only one user using this internet access, you probably dont want to invest in a QoS router...unless this user is using 100% of his internet access by himself (torrent downloads, for example).. but for regular usage (email & web) no QoS should be required.

For QoS Kentrox is definitely your best bet.
