Cheap AGP card w/ Pixel & Vertex shader 2.0 for Vista??? 2

Hello,

Since I am not a gamer I have not paid much attention to the vidcard scene, other than the latest-and-greatest. I have my old Radeon 8500 AIW that works fine for everything...except Vista RC1. Is there any decent AGP graphics card (cheap) that has pixel & vertex shader 2.0? I know everything is PCI-E these days but I have an AGP-8X slot only. Thanks all.

Don't bother about Vista if your system only has a PCI connector. No PCI cards will support Aero. If you can't use Aero, just stick to XP, it will be supported by Microsoft for another 3-4 years. Then change the whole PC.

In my area, the electronics stores are now using different terms to describe the Vista compatibility of their systems. They say something like "full Vista compatibility" to describe those that will support Aero, and just Vista compatible for the others. Marketing marketing... what an art!

felixc, there are PCI cards that will run the Aero Glass interface just fine. As I pointed out above, all you need is SM 2.0 support, and the GeForce FX series of cards not only support SM 2.0 but were (and still are) available in PCI versions.

I don't think aero is in my future. I just want a smoothly running system with decent visuals.
