is there any way of making SQL queries recognise characters such as () and / because you can use them in query and table names (as I have) but can not use them in SQL- it brings up error messages? Can this be amended?

:) ;)

I'm not sure about your characters, but when I need to find a record that has a * (as in IN*1k), I use the following criteria in my query:

Like 'IN[*]' & *

By placing the * between the square brackets it no longer treats it as a wild card but as an asterisk. Perhaps this will work for you.
