mics 7.0/flash 2.0.10/nam 4.1

I unplugged the power to the startalk flash and turned on the NAM. The goal was to get the the mailboxes setup, CCR config'd and such so I could convert next week. Everything went fine.

I shutdown the NAM and plugged the flash back in. It doesn't respond to F981 and F983 doesn't take the admin login. If I dial the vm's ext, I get the Log: instead of the Pwd:. The F**xftest feats are only 900 and 983. F9*1 shows admin as F983.

I suppose I could just pull a "whoopsie" and leave the NAM connected. Sales people wouldn't accept this but I'm out of ideas.

Anyone?

Connect the Flash's serial port to a PC running Hyperterminal so you can watch the bootup sequence. 1200 baud, 8-N-1. Might give you a clue as to what went wrong.

When the Flash responds with a Log prompt try 120000 or 1020000 to see if you can get into programming.

Try powering down Mics and flash, power up Mics first, then flash, might help.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Thanks Brian, it didn't show me anything. I should have been more clear that when I do the F983 it gives me the Pswd: prompt instead of the Log:.

Yes, I'd done the "normal" things Mr. Manual.

Something seem defaulted the flash and I'm okay with that at this point. After pondering it and recalling that we've had to powercycle the flash several times over the past couple months the decision was made to just install the NAM. It just means one less change next week.

Thanks for replying.

it sounds like the flash defaulted itself for some reason unless you did a reinstall to it! When you got prompted for the PSWD-did you try CONFIG. after the system configs then you can do a feat. 983 you should get log then put in your usual PSWD 120000,1020000 etc.

Yes, the CONFIG did take me into the initial config menu. I'm very sure that I didn't reinstall it as it had the power unplugged (but the ports still connected!) when I did a REINSTALL to the NAM. I think the lesson would then be to also unplug the ports and go for complete isolation as the power plug may not be enough for the flash to be off-line.

In the end, no worries and I've had exactly zero complaints.
