Does any one have suggestions on how to change the Windows XP professional splash screen before windows XP starts?
We have looked at modifing files but this is very intrusive and can affect the operation of the PC.
We would like to just customize out PC platform
"Use this switch to have Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 display an installable splash screen instead of the standard splash screen. First, create a 16-color (any 16 colors) 640x480 bitmap and save it in the Windows directory with the name Boot.bmp. Then add "/bootlogo /noguiboot" to the boot.ini selection."
Thanks for all the input.
One more issue with this is that we are looking at having our own logo at the splash screen and the powers that be are dead set on having the progress bar functioning as well
We have tried using a tool called resource hacker to edit the ntoskrnl.exe but the only way we can get it into the system is to over write the file in safe mode. is there any way around this? This is a huge request I know.
Thats what I have been trying to tell the higher ups but they dont listen (of course)
I did try removing the noguiboot entry and it provided our template splash and then went to the Default XP splash screen.
Any other ideas?
The dept wants to only see our splash screen and a working progress bar.
They dont what to see the Standard XP splash at all.
When I edit the Boot.ini as stated above the seqence is as follows: Dell post, our logo(just for a second), then the XP pro splash.
The ntoskrnl.exe plan works but you can only install the file in safe mode unless there is some way to get past that.
Hope this helps
