changing the amt from negative to positive in a given field 1

can anyone help me with changing the amounts of one column to a positive or a negative if another column has a date greater than say 10/31/02? i think i may need to right a function but i'm having a hard time figuring out how to do this.

You could use an immediate if statement in the query design grid, like so:

yourcolumname: IIf([DateColumn]>#10/31/2002#,[othercolumn] * -1,[othercolumn])
