Changing the Administrator password

I have a Server 2003 SP1 Server that is part of a Domain that has a functional level of Windows 2000 Native.

I would like to change the password of the Built-in Administrator Domain account.

Apart from changing the password in the Backup software, is there anywhere else obvious I should change the password.

Does it have any other repercussions?

Not if you change it while logged on as that user. If you force a change while logged on as another admin then it can cause problems with any encrypted data if you are using EFS.

As you mentioned before your backup software may fail if it runs under the admin account as will any other services that start under that account. It can be a good idea to create a special admin account especially for your backups then you won't have to change this every time you reset the admin password.

Is there anyway of finding out which Services are dependent on an Administrator account, besides double-clicking and going to the Properties?

In computer management if you open the services tab and there is a column called Log on as and this lists the accounts.
