Changing receptionist DNS

I have a nortel norstar modular, and we had to move the location of the receptionist. I've changed 'control set' in sets and lines to the new dns (223, as opposed to 221) and I think that took care of most things.

Except one issue: intercom/paging/voicemail to '0', as most people do for receptionist, still goes to the wrong/old location. Is there a fix?

Dial 0 internal is called the direct dial set. Change this to 223 under system programming. To change dial 0 in voicemail, login to F982 and change the operator extension. You might also want to assign the GD mailbox to extension 223 if it's now assigned to 221.

There is a setting called Set Relocation, meaning you dont have to do all that.
Move the set and the ext goes with it.

You can also change the DN of a set such as change DN 223 to 221.

I would note, though that at least on the R1T1, the change of DN does not affect where forwards go. For example, the extension 276 (port 305) needs to be changed to 294 (port 310), because there are phones forwarding no answer to 294 (port 310). After the extension change, all the FNA from the other sets will point to 276 (port 310), instead of 294 (port 305); so the programming follows the port, rather than the DN. IMO, quite a nuisance.

If possible (next time, for me), I will turn on the set relocation feature so all programming will follow to the right place (hopefully).

Yes just dont move phones around too fast.
Some say they dont trust it but it has worked for me almost 100% of the time.

I think some older softwares once you changed a DN you then do a set copy form the old DN to the new DN.

the set relocation is OK, I think the people that get into trouble on it don't wait long enough for the phones to catch up after the swap. take at least 2 minutes.

If you need to renumber the DN then don't forget the control DN in services etc. also the primeset on Lines.

Hmm. I changed the direct dial under system programming, but when I (for instance) intercom 0, I get 'invalid number'

Because of the advice above. Direct dial is set to 223, but doesn't work as in last post.

When customer asks me for this, I usually talk them into switching it back where it was, then I set the relocation to ON, so they can move the set without having to reprogram everything.

I have had flaky issues with set relo- not often, but enough to give me doubts. Most often, a set will lose partial programming. I always prefer to move jumpers.
