Changing Media Gateway address

I have a G350 gateway addressed in the 10.140.x.x range that will need to be re-addressed into the 10.250.x.x range. Out server is a S8300 in a G700 gateway. Currently the G350 is in the same LAN segment as the server. After our network restructuring, it will be on the far side of a router.

Not knowing what I'm getting in to, it seems to me this will be more involved than simply changing the IP of the gateway. Assuming my routing, VLANS, etc. are all OK on the LAN side, from the Avaya side what else do I have to change?

I have had to change IP addresses a few times, its easier to reinitialize the gateway and reprogram it with new IP's

I have found on many media gateways, even after you change the IPs correctly, the gateway will still not be able to register to a media server. The solution that always works is an "nvram init" and re-address it that way.

Ouch. Not what I was hoping for. So what are the caveats of that? I've never brought up a new gateway from scratch. What kind of downtime am I looking at for that building?

changing the ip address of the gateway automatically deletes the default gateway parameter. So Services port/serial/local LAN access is a requirement!

you need to take the advice and nvram init , it takes about 10 mins to get a basic gateway up and running again , set gate way , interface valn , set icc , set mgc , have a look at this doc

Personally i have had gateways go nuts when you change the ip address of the active vlan , following avaya procedure to the letter , i always nvram now. and as matt pointed out you need services / serial lead.
