I have XP Pro and Powerpoint 2002 - it seems when I change the macro security settings from medium (the default) to low, it immediately changes back to medium.

I am in the 'Administrator' group on my PC.

Can I force the settings to change to low via the registry? As it currently stands, I get a security warning message half way through my presentation (when I try to call a flash movie which is a stand-alone .exe file) and it doesn't look very professional....

Not withstanding that low security settings are not recommended in this day
and age, the best route to use a system policy to enforce or set various
settings. These are discussed in the Office Resource Kit. You can download
the ORK from:

When the ORK is installed in adds new Policy Templates to the server system.
You must load these templates using the Group Policy Administrator.
(WINNT\system32\gpedit.msc search for Adm files in the help system.) You
can load the template at either the system or user level and set minimum
macro security settings within the group policy.

I've tried this but with no joy - didn't really know whether what I did was correct, and I'm not sure how my employer will react to me trying to change security policy...

Is there another way I can do this easily, on one PC only, on a temporary basis??
