Hi,

I want to change my trunk from my local line E1 to Isdn pri. What particular changes I need to do? If you can give me steps it would be a good help. Thanks a lot.

add DS1 first, then signalling group next, followed by the trunk group. Whatever trunk group number you use, try to keep the signalling group the same, e.g. Trunk 10, use signalling group 10.

The example below is for group 8

The DS1 setup (assuming your in Europe) is as follows: -

Location: 05A10 Name: MDI Trunk 1
Bit Rate: 2.048 Line Coding: hdb3

Signaling Mode: isdn-pri
Connect: network
TN-C7 Long Timers? n Country Protocol: etsi

Interface Companding: alaw CRC? y
Idle Code: 01010100
DCP/Analog Bearer Capability: 3.1kHz

T303 Timer(sec): 4

The Signalling Group setup is a s follow:-

Group Number: 8 Group Type: isdn-pri
Associated Signaling? y Max number of NCA TSC: 0
Primary D-Channel: 05A1016 Max number of CA TSC: 0
Trunk Group for NCA TSC: 8
Trunk Group for Channel Selection: 8 X-Mobility/Wireless Type: NONE
TSC Supplementary Service Protocol: a Network Call Transfer? n

When you first set up the signalling group you will need to leave "Trunk Group for Channel Selection" blank until you set up the trunk group. When the trunk group is set up come back and enter the trunk group number in this field.

Can you set all this up before the local phone company does the cutover or do you have to wait and do it all at the same time? My goal is to do all the programing first then have AT&T do their cut so I can minimize down time.

AT&T and E1 is not something that is normal in the U.S.
Are you sure you are going to have E1?

It's a good idea to set all this up ahead of time, then move the facility to the new ds1 board at cut time.

No I don't have E-1 just analog lines. I just was curious how much of the programing I can do before the cutover.

What hardware platform? What cm software version?

You need to check customer options and make sure you can add isdn. If you can, you can program the ds1, the trunk-group, the signaling group, then add the trunks.. This can all be done ahead of time.

No service will be affected. You will only have a ds1 alarm.

I have a g3r v9 4 cabinets linked at the main site and 5 other sites all with g3 cabinets. They all dial out from the main location.

ISDN-PRI = Y.

This thread was started by ONsiteengineer. The last question was asked by Lostpbx. Are you the same person or are there 2 different questions?

Kevin

Hi,

Lostpbx, you need to have new thread for your concern.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I will do this after the cutoff from the telco since I will use same media module (mm711 for my isdn-pri). I have g700/s8300). Do ineed to change something in my incoming and outgoing numbering plans? THanks a lot.

Hi,

My answer was based on setting up an ISDN Circuit in Europe where E1 is used. T1 is used in the USA etc. just to clariffy that.

Is there a way i could have my local lines routing to the PRI is they go down as a backup??

Sorry for the piggy-backing, I thought some of my questions might help out as I am doing the same thing. I will start a new thread.
