Hello!

Years ago my ISP had assigned us a block of IP addresses for use on our network. This proved to be a security nightmare and I added a firewall with a single external IP and released the IP block to the ISP.

At the time I did not change the internal IP range. Now I plan to upgrade to 2003 and I want to correct all the mistakes in my domain before I do the upgrade. I want to use the private IP range 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254 .

I assume I just need to change the IP for all the servers and change the IP range for the DHCP server. Will WINS automatically add the new entries for the servers? Am I missing anything?

Don't forget to change any printers or routers (and routing tables). You can use DHCP to change the WINS server, but keep in mind that NT machines will need to be done manually. You may want to do this over a weekend, to let WINS replicate properly. You may also want to tombstone old WINS records.
