Need to change the IP address of SE Primary server and expansion system v2. Primary server is Avaya provided physical server.

Would changing IP address change the system ID of server and make the license go invalid?

Or we just need to go to :7070 web portal -> Settings ->Select System -> The Network and change the IP address of SE.

What about expansion v2? Change it through manager?

Thanks,

You license probably will be invalid and go into 15 days grace period if you change the IP.

If you have PLDS licenses you can rehost the license yourself, otherwise you'll need to make a license swap.

SO it is not possible to change the address?

It's confusing, here some are suggesting licenses would go dormant but according to doc ip adress can be changed.

Here we simply have SE primary Server with one expansion system v2. Version is 9.1. Need to change ttheri ips?

Please advice?

Changing the IP address on a physical server will not change the system ID, you will be fine. It is only on a virtual server where if you change the IP address the system ID would change.

Seems like you won't get a grace period on the licenses unless your using WebLM, if PLDS licenses in SE is WebLM at the moment is a bit unclear since the WebLM service isn't started.

What I can tell from the last time I changed IP addresses I didn't need to rehost my PLDS licenses.
Most likely it's using the MAC address instead of IP address for PLDS Host ID. (I'm guessing the same is used for ADIs System ID, I only use PLDS licensing)

Changing IP on virtual server would be the same as on physical (tried changing on my virtual IPO and the Host ID remained the same.
Most issues on virtual servers has been when they didn't put a static MAC on the network interfaces and this changed during reboot.
Upgrading VMWare and the hardware version of the virtual server would also cause licenses to go invalid.

Here we have ADI licenses on SE and expansion v2. So changing the IP address on a physical server will not change the system ID.

Could someone guide the process. Here we have primary server with one expansion v2. Version is 9.1. I got the following from the doc:

Changing the IP Address of the Primary Server
Procedure
1. Use IP Office Manager to run the Initial Configuration Utility (ICU) on each Server Edition Secondary and Server Edition Expansion System.
When running the ICU, ensure the Retain Existing Configuration setting is checked.
a. Enter the new Server Edition Primary server IP address/Netmask. This may require a different Gateway IP Route.
b. Save the configuration to the system. This results in the system going offline from the Server Edition Primary server and
Manager.
c. Once the ICU has been run on each system, close Manager.
2. Use IP Office Web Manager to log in to the Server Edition Primary server and change the IP address.
3. Restart the Server Edition Primary server.
4. Use Manager to log in to the Server Edition Primary server and check that all the IP Office systems are online.
5. Review and test the configuration.
6. Perform a backup.

3. Save the configuration to the system. This results in the system going offline from the Server Edition Primary server and Manager.
4. Log in to the Server Edition Primary server and remove the Server Edition Secondary or Server Edition Expansion System from the solution.
5. Run the ICU and add the Server Edition Secondary or Server Edition Expansion System to the solution.
If requested, use the consolidate from Primary (Replace option).
6. Launch one-X Portal administration and configure the DSML and CSTA providers with the new IP address. The one-X Portal service may require a restart.
7. Review and test the configuration.
8. Perform a backup.

Please advice.

Another doc gives a relatively simpler procedure.

Changing the IP Address Settings

Using the server's web control menus (also call "platform view"), you can change the server's network settings.

·Warning
Changing IP address and other network settings will require you to login again. If the server is using DHCP or is switched to DHCP, the address obtained for the server appears on the server's command line display.

To change the IP address:
1. Login to the server's web configuration menus.

2. Select Settings .

3. Select System.

4. Set the Network section as required.
·Network Interface
This drop down allows selection of network interfaces for which the settings are shown. Within the IP Office configuration, Eth0 matches LAN1, Eth1 matches LAN2.

Enable Traffic Control
When enabled, the server throttles the rate at which it sends UDP packets from the IP Office service to IP Office System Monitor. This may be necessary if the IP Office System Monitor traces indicate a high number of lost packets.

·Host Name
Sets the host name that the IP Office Server Edition should use. This setting requires the local network to support a DNS server. Do not use localhost.

·! WARNING
For a virtualized server, shown by the Virtualized value on the System menu, this field is part of the System Identification (SID) sed for licensing. Changing this value also changes the System Identification and so invalidates any current licenses. If that happens, new licenses need to be obtained using the new System Identification.

·Use DHCP
If selected, the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway information is obtained by the server making DHCP requests. The related fields are greyed out and cannot be set manually, instead they show the values obtained in response to the DHCP request.

·IP Address
Displays the IP address set for the server. If not using DHCP, you can edit the field to change the setting.

Changing this value also changes the System Identification and so invalidates any current licenses. If that happens, new licenses need to be obtained using the new System Identification.

·Subnet Mask
Displays the subnet mask applied to the IP address. If not using DHCP, you can edit the field to change the setting.

·Default Gateway
Displays the default gateway settings for routing. If not using DHCP, you can edit the field to change the setting.

·System DNS
Enter the address of the primary DNS server. This option is greyed out if the address of the DNS server is set to be obtained from the DHCP server (see below

·Automatically obtain DNS from provider
This setting is only used if Use DHCP is also selected. If selected, the server attempts to obtain DNS server details from the DHCP server.

5. Click Save
. The server restarts.

It is confusing what process to follow. Advice

Guys, anything?

What procedure to follow?

Guys, help a brother out. Customer needs to change the IP address of SE 9.1 (Physical Server). Documents are not clear on it.

Has anyone done it here? What is the procedure? Some say it would change the SID even if it is a physical server.

Please advice.

Yes,

I have done it on a Server edition running on a VMWare.

Changing the IP address or hostname WILL change the system ID.

But, you will have a 30 day grace period in order to give you time te swap the license.

Was all this not all covered on your training?

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Well, I do know which training has this specific issue covered? All that is out there is that SID will be changed if SE is on virtual and not on physical machine. But some are mentioning SID with be changed irrespective of whether virtual or not.

Even if it will not changed on physical server, how do you change the IP addrsss of SE 9.1 with expansion v2. I got a couple of procedures from docs I posted above. Can anybody please guide what process to follow? Has anybody done it on SE Physical machine?

I think it depends which licenses you're using, ADI (System ID) or PLDS (Host ID).
All my installations are on PLDS so I can't answer if the System ID will be affected.

The IP address can be changed either from Manager, if you're only changing IP within the same subnet.
If you also need to the default gateway the IP address is best changed from Platform View.

I'm assuming you're a BP, if not I advise you to get one in case things go south.

I would do the ICU setup for both systems. There should be an option to keep the current configuration.

Changing the IP address on a Physical server will not make licenses go invalid as stated above.
I would change the IP500 Ip address 1st then the Main server. You will probably need to delete the expansion site with old Ip address and then add the new ones.. after you do that check your SCN lines to each site and make sure they are correct.

but can you run Initial Configuration Utility (ICU) on a running system? ICU is something you perform during fresh installation, no? I do not see any such option in manager(File-> Advance).
