CHANGING DNS NAME IN DC 1

Is it possible to change the dns name of a dc with cative directory installed with out haveing to demote it?

you'd have to rename the machine itself, the netlogon service on a domain controller tries to reregister itself with DNS every hour. You could shut that off in the registry and manually enter the DNS info, but that's a pain to do.
