Hello,

We will be changing our DNS address for both our website and mail this weekend. Last time we tried this we had problems pushing the change through and had to revert back to the original DNS address. During the time our registar servers were pushing the address through, dialing in through Citrix was not available. I'm not sure if this was a fluke but, does Citrix have anything to do with our DNS address?

We currently have Citrix Program Neighborhood 7.0 on our laptops connecting to a dedicated Citrix server through an IP address.

Thank you.

There should only be a problem if users are connecting to a FQDN, not an IP Address (unless the IP Addresses of the Citrix Servers are also changing). If they were connecting to an address like and the IP Address that this resolves to changed, then you could have several hours where the address still resolves to the old IP Addresses. It used to be up to 72 hours, but is now usually less than 12.

I make sure to host my public DNS with someone that has a management console, so I can administer my own DNS.

I'd recommend migrating away from the PN, in favor of having users connect via the Web Interface (aka NFuse), as maintaining remote PN Clients can be a PITA.

Thank you for the help. It turns out our IP address for our Citrix server was tied in with our domain. Once I redirected the DNS away from our ISP, the IP address was cut off.

Probably time to register a DNS A or CNAME Record for a Web Interface Server and connect that way, instead of being tied to an IP Address. This way you can change IPs all you want and have very little (if any) interruption, and not have to visit any client machines.

Also good to look at tunneling your ICA traffic thru an SSL VPN, i.e. Citrix Secure Gateway (which is free if you have SA) or AEP Netilla, Citrix Access Gateway...
