Hi i jus recently received a backup new tape for audix and wondering what i need to do, steps to take and command to run so that I can take out the current tape and put in the next one in the rotation. Is there somewhere that I can specify what is backed up or is that all automatic and finally how can I read the contents of the audix tape to see what is on there and that things are really being backed up. Thank you.

To eject your tape:
Customer / Service Administration
Back Up
Eject Disk Cartidge

To verify that the back up was completed successfully you can check the admin logs afterwards.

If you have an LX go into the Utility command.

All depends on what type of AUDIX you're talking about. Intuity AUDIX, Definity AUDIX, AUDIX R1Vx? What kind of tape are you using (model, capacity, size)?

I assume that you have an old Definity Audix 3.2 or a Intuity Audix but not a LX, since you are mentioning a tape instead of a MO-disk (Def Audix 4.0) or CD-RW (recent Intuity and LX versions).

For the Definity Audix you can use:
- status tape (to check status)
- remove tape (to eject tape)
- add tape (to administer the tape after mounting it)

Besides this, the Maintenance Guide has a very clear description on adding and replacing backup tapes. You might get all your answer there...

Hi,

it is an old intuity you are right. It is intuity audix the tape type not sure what it is I can check at work tomorrow but it is a big black tape.

So basically I need to be running all of these commands in the shell prompt or can this be done in the audix administration terminal where you take care of subscribers and etc.

I have not done anything but the regular admin stuff in terms of add subscribers and stuff.

what would the command be to check the logs.

What I ultimately want to do here is remove the current tape and insert the new tape and back up all my data which includes voicemails and settings and intuity software.

how would I go about doing this? Sorry about the lack of knowledge on this but all the help would be much appreciated since I have never done this before.

When is the best time to do this ? off hours? will me removing the tape while in production affect the voicemails in any way? Thank you.

To tell you the honest truth I am not even sure if stuff is being backed up or where that is set. The technician came in and had to do a tape swap and suggested the second tape. Is there any way to check backup settings and see in a log somewhere that they are being done. Thank you!

Presuming you have a sa login, from the main menu go to "customer services and administration", then go to "backup/restore", then "backup". You can view the log file of the tape in the machine from here, or select backup, and you get a field that allows you choose what to back up or what not to. Default will back up everything, press F3 to continue, if prompted to verify, select yes. Watch the machine for errors as it performs the backup.
You may also check for maintenance alarms from the audix command line, "display alarms", return, then F3.
