At the moment, our Users folder contains 150 sub-folders - each named with the username of each of our domain users. Currently, the permission on each folder is set to allow Everyone complete access!

Is there an easy way of removing the Everyone permission from all these folders and adding just the folders owner and the administrator?

Otherwise i'll have to go through each folder manually and change the permissions.

I inherited this and am trying to tighten security somewhat!!!

Same problem here, I have been ignoring it so I haven't found any easy solution yet. Fortunately mine are at least username$ folders so they don't show up on a casual browse of that server.

I might as well start looking into it again and if I come up with anything I'll post it here.

can create a batch file using cacls (or xcacls from the resource kit)

Thats a little better than scrolling through the user list for every directory but still a lot of editing of the batch file from what I see.

Starting with a dir piped out to a bat file would help some. Then a lot of it could be done with a few search and replaces on that.

I might actually do it with a quick VB program and if I get around to it soon will let you know.

Thanks wolluf, there is always something in the resource kit but until you use something once its hard to find.
