Changes to the ownership of systems config file

Hi all, Well,My system is running on AIX ver 4.3 . I would like to find out whether is/are there any impact/s to the system if the ownership of certain configuration files like syslog.conf, telnet.conf, gated.conf, qconfig, /etc/security/.profile, /etc/security/login.cfg to be owned and writable ONLY by root (preferred),bin,sys? Is it feasible to change the ownership? <br>Please enlightened me. Thanks in advance. <br><br>Regards Daniel Lim <br>

No. You can change that, put you will lose the helping hand of the folks at the <b>system</b> group. ;-)<br><br>I hope it works...

What baderoor is sayuing it's true... but I'm talking only about the files Daniel06 is referring. And, I understand he want to change <b>only the mode</b> of the files to rw------- and the owner <i>still</i> will be the root user.<br><br>I hope it works...
