changed fsb and now it won't boot!!!

Well I noticed on my sister's computer that her athlon xp2000 only runs at 1.2ghz so I went into the crappy BIOS that she has and changed the fsb from 100 to 166mhz and now it won't boot at all. I can turn it on but nothing comes up on the monitor!! How can i change it back??

pop out the cmos battery for a few seconds and try rebooting. either that or look for the reset jumper on the mobo. bit more info and can offer more help

OK, well my sister is asleep right now, so ill try it in the morning and hopefully those two ideas will fix it. If anyone else has anything to add plz do!

The XP2000+ is a 266FSB CPU so you should set it to 133 and not 166. Reset your CMOS and you should be fine.

Yeh, you just set it too high, clear the cmos (either with the jumper or remove the battery for 30 seconds) unplugged!
Then reset it to 133 (because your CPU has a fsb of 266, 133 doubled by the DDR ram)
That should give you your XP2000+ true clock speed of around 1.67Ghz

get a motherboard that has smart system recovery. If you overclock it too far it will automatically reset to the last setting that allowed bootup.
usually this can be fixed by locating the CMOS reset jumpers (usually marked jp1 jp2 jp3). to boot the jumper should be on pins 1 and 2, to reset to default settings place the jumper on 2 and 3, then back on 1 and 2. Then go through the BIOS and set everything how you want it.

Thanks for all the solutions! I'm going to do it here in a min when she gets in the shower, because I dont want her knowing i screwed things up temporarily. She freaks out..lol. Well I'll post how things went, thanks again!

Its back up and working! I had to do the jumper thing on the MB and now it working great. And i set the fsb to 133mhz and now the xp2000 is at 1.66ghz instead of 1.2, thanks everyone for your help!
