... and I'm not talking about the application icon that's next to "Microsoft Access" in the title bar, either. I'm talking about the application icon for the .mdb file. Is there any way to customize it (without having the deployment wizard)?

Alternatively, I know how to create a desktop shortcut to a .mdb file. Anyone have a neat function to programmatically change a shortcut icon (through API, probably)?

Failing all else... anyone know of a good freeware installer? :)

How about Tools, Startup, Application Icon (in Access 2000)?

Yes, that changes the icon in the title bar and the task bar... but I want to change the icon on the user's desktop.

If you using the Setup Wizard, there is a place in the wizard to set an icon for the shortcut.

If you are distributing this manually then you will need to change the icon manually by right clicking on the shortcut and setting the icon property.

Create a shortcut, and right-click and select properties. Select "Change Icon" and select the icon you wish to use. It will help if you place a copy of the icon in the db folder if you are planning to distribute the db. You can also specify the same icon in your STARTUP menu.

B-)

So, there's no way to do it programmatically? :-(

Alright, I finally solved my own problem. Just in case anyone's interested, here's what I did:

Instead of some fancy setup program, I created a simple DOS batch file to copy the front-end, the previously-setup desktop shortcut file, and the icon file from a network location to the user's hard drive. Then, I start the newly-copied front-end, which copies the desktop shortcut file from the hard drive folder to the desktop.

I wish there was some nice function that eliminated the need for batch files, but this method gets the job done. :)
