Change Systems IP\Mask\Gateway

I need to change a Sun Solaris 8 systems IP, Mask and Gateway settings leaving everything else the same.

What files do I need to change to do this?

change /etc/inet/hosts (The IP for the hostanme of the system which is in /etc/hostname.[your net interface]).

change /etc/netmasks (For your ip's subnet, put the proper netmask)

change /etc/defaultrouter (Put the gateway in there)

Reboot and all should work!

Thanks - that worked well.

The only funcky thing was the CDE was till showing the old hostname. Any idea where that can be changed?

Try changing your /etc/hosts file. (You didn't mention in your first post that the hostname was going to change.)

Also, I would have recommended using sys-unconfig to make the changes, since you had to reboot anyway. This takes you through all of the networking options you have to do when you first install a system. It may take a few minutes longer, but you are pretty much assured that everything that needs to be changed will be.

Also change hostname in /etc/net/osiclts/hosts, /etc/net/osicnts/hosts & /etc/net/osicots/hosts. Used by OSI connection and connectionless protocols.
