I have a laptop (WinXP Pro, SP1) that is connected to an external monitor. Until recently, when the laptop was connected to the monitor, the monitor was the primary, and the laptop display secondary (the desktop icons and taskbar were on the external monitor). Now, for some reason, it has changed to the laptop display being primary.
I have gone into the display settings to try to change it back, but the checkbox for "use this device as my primary monitor" is greyed out for both displays. I cannot deselect it fo the laptop, and I cannot select it for the external monitor.
Any suggestions would be most welcome. No, I cannot upgrade to SP2. This is a corporate laptop, but our IT support is a bit lacking.

How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?
