I have a backup set on ZIP discs which Various Versions of BackupExec "Restore" produce message "wrong format." The backup set was created by BackupExec (unknown which version) so does anyone know if Seagate or Veritas has changed the format along the way some time? BackupExec offers to format it correctly, of course, but the backup would then disappear.

Are you positive the 'zipped' versions were created by Backup Exec? Or did Backup Exec create backup files that were then 'zipped' by someone else?

Have you tried unzipping the files and then using BE to restore them?

They are not "ZIP" files, It is a set of ZIP discs that were used to create a complete backup of the entire C; Drive in the "Backup Exec" format - whatever that is.
Now when I try to restore them, the message comes up that the discs have the wrong format, even though it was actually created by Backup Exec!
So my question is, did Backup Exec ever change formats in it's many incarnations?

Sorry, my misunderstanding. I am not aware of any change of format from BE, but I have only been using it since version 8.6.
