I'm in the process of building a new PC (Dell Optiplex 745 - Windows XP Professional) - installed Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Java 1.6.01 - upgraded to 1.6.2. - If you need to know what else I've installed, just ask, but I thought these were pertinent to the question.
Problem I'm having is with installing an FTP client that uses JAVA - the FTP software is not recognizing that a version of Java higher than 1.4 is installed.
If I do the java -version command (in CMD.exe), I get Version 1.3.1_01. I've uninstalled an reinstalled 1.6.1 and then upgraded to 1.6.2, but still can't change the default version. Plus I don't even have an option in "Change/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel to remove 1.3.
I've seen items on the web that point to the Path enviromental variables, but not sure what I need to add, if that would even work (tried a couple of different versions of "C:\Program files\JAVA\jre1.6.0_01\bin\" but no luck so far).
Thanks for any help!!!
