I want to change my crosstab report's data source. Both the old and the new datasources are views from the same SQL Server DB. I have performed these steps.

1) I verified that the report had no parameters.
2) I started the db expert. I added the new data source. I did not remove the old one.
3) I started the crosstab expert. I removed ALL of the fields. I added the new fields.
4) I ran the report. It worked great!

Afterwards I tried to delete the old datasource. I got a message stating that my report was still using this. I ignored it. I deleted the data source and my crosstab object vanished.

What did I do wrong??

Instead, don't add in the new View, use Database->Set Location and point to the new View.

Crystal will verify that the same fields exist, if not it will pop up a mapping screen so you can remap the fields.

Then the old datasource will no longer be used.
