I need to send some config files but I can`t copy and paste them to my desktop, when I try to paste them they say that the files are not in the Manager folder.

They have a padlock symbol next to them when I open the Offline/Open file folder and I can open the configs,I need to find where they are saved so that I can forward them on to another party, they don`t appear in the Manager folder but .bak files are there.

I am using 9.0.2 860 and the configs I need to find are all from systems using the same, all my older configs are not affected.

Use the windows search function.

t sounds liek you have either a permissions error or have changed your working directories

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thanks IPGuru for your very rapid reply,I`ve tried the windows search and come up with a blank.

I haven`t changed any working directories so as I seem to have a permissions problem is there a work around so I can find these config files?

I have the same thing. I noticed it when I changed laptops and got Windows 8 with that!

From Explorer they can't be seen but from manager you do see them (copy paste from there works btw).

Still havent figured out how and why though.

The thing is,I can open the configs when I open File/Offline/Open File but the configs don`t appear in the Manager folder on my C drive,I can`t copy and paste because windows can`t find them there.

Security issue, open offline in manager and use Save As and store the files in a different nonsecured location or change the security settings for the folder.

Thanks intrigrant,I`ve saved them to my desktop and now I can at least forward them on.

I have seen the same on my laptop on W8.1
Even exporting users to a csv file cannot be seen.
Manager does do the export but i cannot see them.
There is something wrong :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

It seems to be to be a 9.0 issue to me.

I've loaded it on quite a few PC's and never seen this though, must be other factors involved :)

Could be that you need to run it as admin at all times.

When I run Manager as admin all my configs that have the padlock symbol all disappear completely,it must be a 9.0 issue as I never had anything like this on the previous versions.

I also think this is a R9 issue...

I'm running Win7 Enterprise. I upgraded to R9 and immediately (no changes to win7, no enterprise software pushes or anything) I could not view or access an configs saved within the Manager folder.

I'm agreeing with tlpeter on this. Running Manager as Admin doesn't help, for me.

Saving all configs to a desktop folder is a workaround I'm using.

For me it is now working.
I think I changed the permissions in the program files folder for the user so that it has full rights.

If you disable UAC and run as a Admin then the files should be visible.
Read this which briefly explain what happens

Upgrading to the latest R9.0.3.0941 fixed it for me. I had the same issue when I was using the previous R9 Manager.

Poor designed software doesn't use the "virtualisation" techniques introduced by Microsoft in windows Vista and improved in Windows 7 & 8.
That is the root of the problem, I know that because I wrote software for win95 and XP and after a few years I started writing software and the above is causing me some headaches as Microsoft is not very clear on how to use those techniques.

soon we will have windows nein which gives you access to none of your files.
