Hello,

I need to gather some unbiased statistics on ColdFusion, PHP and JSP that cover enough topics so as to absolutely put to rest some erroneous beliefs on them all.

Though I have no personal preference, I am in a shop that is using ColdFusion MX as the standard but am continously bombarded with political and non-factual reasons to change to something else. I cannot find a compelling reason to change but was hoping you could help me quantify this.

If one is clearly by all accounts superior then of course change should be considered.

Thanks very much for your valuable feedback.

Thanks,

Michael42

Here's some comparison info, but it's "Pro-CF" (and a little outdated, I think). It contains such memorable quotes as:
One recent estimate found that to add CF Professional functionality to ASP involved a raw cost of goods that topped $30,000.
AND
ColdFusion is used by over 75% of the Fortune 100.

You're going to have a hard time finding an unbiased comparison, mainly because whomever is writing the comparison is most likely going to have a preference, and that's the reason they're writing the comparison.

Hope This Helps!

My company is posing a similar question. I put a few links together to fight for CF. ASP, PHP, and .net are for masochistic programmers I think. I've used ASP and PHP quite a bit and hate them both.

The answer is below the "sign up to view this answer" and the advertisements

CF to .net a Microsoft look at the two. It's a bit out dated and a few things are incorrect. The newest version (enterprise edition) supports threading and event gateways. This page says cfmail is unreliable. The unreliability was fixed with Coldfusion MX.

.net vs CF a MM view. I read it a while ago and remember thinking it was accurate.

Who uses CF?
