I have a brand new hard drive and am trying to install
CF v.5 .... Studio loaded fine, but trying to load CF Server.. it said I need a web server. I suppose I need
Personal Web Server. It's not on my Windows 98 disk.
I browsed microsoft.com and could only find PWS for
Windows 95. Does anyone have a download link to a version of PWS that will run on 98 ?? Thanks in advance.

It did the job! Thanks! Isn't it amazing that Allaire can't
incorporate this stuff into their software?

Well, they'd have to license Personal Web Server from Microsoft, and I don't think they would've wanted to do that. On the other hand, CFMX does have a standalone web server, but I'm not sure if CFMX runs on Windows 95 or 98. I think most of the installed user base for ColdFusion on Windows is either Windows 2k/NT Server and Windows 2000/NT Workstation.

I just hated the lack of stability on 95 and 98, so when I started working professionally, the first thing I did was install Windows NT Workstation, and from there, 2000 Professional.

Now I'm on Windows 2000 Professional and loading CF again. I've loaded CFMX and CF Studio 5 and don't see an Inetpub folder. Do I need one? Do I need PWS?

Win2k has IIS as an add-on, once you install it the C:\Inetpub directory will be there

You'll need to go into Add/Remove programs, then Add/Remove windows components to install IIS.

Hope This Helps!
