For cost savings our company wants to convert their ground start centrex lines to the cheaper pots lines. The numbers will remain the same. What changes are going to need to be made? All of the systems are Option 11s.
couple of things come to mind, two straps on the card need to be changed from ground to loop. the start type needs to be changed on the route.. i would add a dgt in the rlb to insert the 9, if your using centrex, that usually requires a 9 for a trunk, same as a pbx. to dial out on those as trunks, insert the 9.. make sure your pricing a speach path for each trunk, they arn't that good without that feature and they bump the cost back up..
centrex was built to replace a pbx, 1000 numbers with 500 speach paths was a lot, 500 people could be talking to the pstn at one time, the other sets could dial 4 digit internal station to station, but past 500 any other request for inbound or outbound would get a busy
Unless you are changing the starting arrangement (from ground to loop), you should not need to change anything in programming. I have done this several times without incident. All that was needed is to move the cross connect to the new trunks.
