We are currently an all NT4 network. We will be upgrading to Windows 2000 over the next few months. We are running CentreVu Supervisor 6 in the call center. When we try to launch the CentreVu software on a 2000 machine, we get an error saying we need to be on SP3 or higher. It looks like the software recognizes the fact that it's NT based, but it can't tell that it's 2000 (basically NT5) not NT4. Does anyone know if there is a patch to fix this? I don't feel like spending $40K+ just to run it on 2000.

Thanks,

Tom

After reviewing the readme file, you may need R9 (which still has an option for an R6 server). I'm not sure if it's available as a free download but can be purchased for $500 not the $40K you had feared to upgrade the entire server itself. There were also some patches to "trick" the R6 software into thinking you were running NT by copying some of the SP3 files into a Win2K directory. It will work, I just don't quite remember the details since it was a few years ago. Sorry I couldn't help more. -CL

Thanks everyone for your responses. I will download the revisions and test it out tonight.

Thanks,

Tom

Our Systems guys packaged up CentreVu v8 client to run on our systems. I have the Installrite package where you just run the exe and it makes all the necessary system changes without running a setup. I can give you this by e-mail, it works like a dream but its 10.3mb. If you can handle that I can try to send it. let me know John

Scottyjohn, that would be great. Our email server will not allow any executables, though. If it's an EXE file, can you rename it to EX_ or something like that? Please send it to tmiyake@insweb.com.

Thanks,

Tom
