Once in awhile the login dialog box displays dashes instead of reading "login" and "password". These words are replaced by "-------". I've notice this usually happens when we take a network hit. We always have to reinstall it.

Next time, delete the CVS_Cache.tmp file from the \CMS Supervisor\Cache folder instead of reinstalling. This always works for us.

I'm using 9.0. There is a file within "Cache" folder called "Cache.tmp". Is that the same thing?

Yes, it is. CVS_Cache.tmp is the name under v11.

Thank you so much! This has been driving us nuts!

Susan,
When I first read this thread, I had never before experienced this problem, but this weekend, during a cut, it happened. I recalled reading the thread about it and came to tek-tips and did a search. And your solution worked. Great tip!

We have this happen quite a bit. Usually it is with users with laptops, and for some reason, the laptop hibernated while CVS was up, and they rebooted the machine to get it back. It seems like the problem happens when CVS is running and the workstation or Laptop is then shut off abruptly.

Will this file be on the server or on the PC / Laptop. I have one locked up right now.

On the PC/Laptop - local drive.
c:\program files\avaya\cms

It should be in the Cache directory under CentreVu Supervisor:

C:\Program Files\Avaya\CentreVu Supervisor 9.0\Cache

the above example id from my PC.

Found it, it was under a lucent file on the PC. Much faster then re-installing it.

Stars to you!!

Hello,

for this problem there is a new release of the CMS SuperVisor CD. This is the version FL.04. You can get this at Avaya by QPPCN 1387B.
This newer version deletes the cache.tmp file at startup of the program. This is much easier to have.

Regards,

Everg

I am unable to find the link for the update. Is this available for public or do I have to go through our local Avaya shop????
