MICS system with 7.1 XC and a NAM 4.1 320 extensions.

NAM is located on System A. Login to voice mail is ok via F981 and it asks fo the PW. But when ext users call from System B via F981 that will not work. they can dial the NAM DN but they get the whole "please enter your extension password then press#".

I thought the while thing about centralized VM was to make it seamless. I don't mind if it is one thing or the other but two different set of instructions for voice mail is very confusing with this many users.

Is there a solution or a workaround?

yes this is a full set up p r I on both ends and mcdn key codes in place

I don't know who told you that would work but they were wrong. Even with the MCDN you cannot use any of the vmail feature codes at site b. You'll be lucky to get the msg waiting light to work if you can figure it out.

message waiting indicator is working just fine. I can call the d n for the voicemail and it will let me login with mailbox number password then pound

I am looking to make this consistent so if I can get system a to ask for a mailbox number and password as well that would be fine I don't need to use feature codes consistency is what I'm looking for.

is there a way tofooll the system and think that it is getting a call with out knowing what extension they're calling from

I was thinking about setting up some sort of DEST code that would route the call out then back in thus making it look like a foreign call to the system which might then queue the NAM to ask for mailbox and password.

Does anyone have any suggestions to try out?

You should not have to use a desti code. Set up external voice mail with your NAM as the number. Then when they press the MSG button on the remote side it will dial the NAM and ask for mailbox & password. If memory serves me right I think it really just ask for password if the MCDN is set up correctly.

Linked via Cross Over Cable.

Hawks I am not sure what you mean by External?

On Remote side
Telco Features – Show
VMsg ctr tel#s – Show
VMsg Center 1 – Show
Use: Line – Change to Routing tbl
Tel# - Enter the Vmail DN of sys A
