Hi,

I just finished a tutorial and am diving into my 1st site. I really would appreciate some advice.

I would like to center my page in the browser window. I want the page to stay the same size (under 800 pixels wide), but as the browser window expands, the borders on each side of the page stretch equally, and my page is in the center.

Here is a site with an example of what I want:

See how the background stretches, but the page in the middle stays centered and stays the same size.

Any advice on how to do this will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, select your table and in the properties window look at the far right it says ALIGN just select CENTER and voila.

Hope it'll help ;-)
Have Fun...

Thanks Sharky99,

Few other followup questions:

1) When I start from scratch, your advice works great. But the page I have developed is a collection of smaller tables, and these smaller tables are not in one big table that I can align to the center. Is there anyway I can bring all the smaller tables into one big table and then center the big table?

2) How can I give a color or texture (like the one in the example) to the area on either side of the page that is centered? Not the page itself, but the area on either side of the page that stretches out equally when I make the browser window bigger.

Thanks for any advice with this.

1)
Select everything on the page and Ctrl X to cut to the clipboard. Insert new table put cursor in table and Ctrl V to paste
2)
Put the page backround to the colour you want and the table colour to white or a diff colour to the page Live long and make your kids suffer..

WoW! It sure is easy once someone has pointed out how to do it!

Thanks for everyone's contribution.

By the way, for anyone else that is following the same learning curve, to center the table, you have to be in standard view, then go to the properties palatte, and choose the "align" options box on right side of palatte as pointed out above.

To select the page background color or texture, you have to go to "Modify" in the menu bar, then "Page Properties" to get the proper menu.
