My Parent's CDRW will not stop spinning or accessing (the light stays on even when there isn't any media in the drive). Why is this happening and what solution is there for this?

If you need more information, please let me know. Win98 - I am now in the dark on and CDRW I am not sure of either.

The driver was updated a year ago after the new CDRW was installed. The old unit died, so they replaced it.

Ideas?
Thank you,
Steve

Check to see if it has done this ever since the new drive was installed, or if it just started. If it has done this since day one, go onto safe mode/device manager and see how many CD Roms are installed. If more than you really have (ghost drivers), delete ALL the drivers under the CD Rom section. Re-boot into normal and the CD should re-install itself.

Thanks - I will pass this on and see what they have.

Never thought about the Safe Mode.

Steve
