I start up my computer, and everything is fine and dandy untill *wam!* up pops the blue screen of death( the one that says Something isn't working, hit any key to try to continue normally or hit Ctrl+alt+del). And on the screen is says "The 32-bit device driver CDRPWD(01)+0000AD23 is trying to yse a system service which is not loaded."

Assuming you have a CD Writer installed:
Try uninstalling the software/drivers for your CD writer.
"CDRPWD(01)+0000AD23" is probably associated with your CD writer and could be corrupt.
Are using Adaptec Easy CD Creator?

Please let us know.

WELL CONSIDERING YOUR PROBLEM YOU PROBABLY HAVE ROXIO EASY CD CREATOR 5 WITH DIRECT CD INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM. THIS CAUSES A CORRUPTION THAT MAKES THE WINDOWS WARNING SCREEN POP UP. IF YOU DONT WANT TO CLICK ENTER 3 TIMES TO GET YOUR PC GOING FIND NEW SOFTWARE. EXAMPLE: NERO BURNING ROM.

THANKS.

I have de same problem but on win 98. The problem started just after installing roxio easy cd creator 5 with direct cd. How can i solve this problem. I can't just erase files in the roxio directory and there's no uninstall function.
Even if i have NERO the same error comes to haunt me when i start windows!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Hi
I have the same massage!!!!
CDRPWD(01)+0000AD23 ERROR

Please help me!!!!!
And YES I did just install EZ CD Creator 5, but I'd like to get it working??? (The DIRECTCD part is not working???)
Can anyone help me????

k9ius@yahoo.com

THANKS!!!

I had the same problem and I could get rid of the problem by deleting the following file cdrpwd.vxd from a subdirectory on my C drive. Do a search for the file and rename it to cdrpwd.old. This file is deposited on your drive by directCD 5. I've gone back to version 4. There is no patch that I could find from Adaptec.

Web search agrees with robvargus..

Even though Win98 forum symptoms and error are so similar you may want to take a look at the proposed fixes.

---------------------------------------------------
Error Message "...cdrpwd(01)+0000ad23"

The file "cdrpwd" was installed by Adaptec's EZ CD Creator software and since it is referenced in the error message EZ CD Creator is probably the cause.

1) One possible fix submitted by a user is as follows:

1) Boot in safe mode
2) un-install direct cd and ez cd creator
3) delete the file "cdrpwd.vxd" in the windows\system32\drivers folder (Version info shows it as a beta direct cd driver from roxio.)
4) eload direct cd from the original cd

2) another possible solution submitted by a user is as follows:

a) rename the file Cdrpwd.vxd to cdrpwd.old in the c:\windows\system\iosubsys
b) make sure that the attribute of the files in the directory are not hidden.
c) restart the computer

The same problem with Nero is discussed at this site
