hi i got a problem with my new cd-rom which i've just install onto my pc.At first when i tried to watch movies or ran any cd from it it ran for a while then suddenly hangs and has a problem reading the cd.I'm running a Pentium 166-Mhz system, using windows 98.
I did when back to the shop where i bought the cd-rom and had it replace but i soon found out the same problem came back.I've change the ide cable but that's not the cause of the problem.I thought maybe there is a setting which i've miss or anything that might be causing this. Can anyonme help me

I think you will always have trouble trying to watch movies on a p166, just not enough power. A newer video card might help but I don't think yor mainboard would even have an AGP slot?
I agree with Mainegeek it's too fast for your system . However you should check under mycomputer/properties/file system/cdrom and make sure that the cache size is set to large and that the access pattern is set to quad speed or higher. If it wasn't then these new settings might help. not enough free space to delete file...delete one or more files and try again...(real error message)
