It's not a question per se, but not a tip. (more like a whine) My Athlon 1700 with 348 ram on an MSI K7T Pro2 has been slowing down to the point where MSI agreed to change out the board for me. While trying to find a compatable board to swap out till the new one got here, I started to notice the CD hanging every once in a while. It would stutter while reading. (noticably winding up and down) Or would not read a CD every once in a while.
One morning when I booted it took 15 min to boot windows. Honest I happened to look at the clock. From that point on it crawled. I did everything I could imagine to find out what was wrong. No errors, no processes running, no problems. Rebooted and that was when I noticed the CD not spinning up like normal. Changed out the drive and I have a new computer again.
I just love these new experiences
