What is the difference between 52x cd's compared to any lesser CD (ie. 16x or 24x?) I have a TDK 52x VeloCD burner, and some leftover 16x PNY discs that I purchased a while back. My question is, should I only burn those CDs at 16x, and why?

OUT.

Just suck it and see, we have some old Traxdata 12X CDR's at work that I know will write without error at 40X. Things move along so fast, manufactures can only gaurantee speeds that have been tested and if 16X was the quickest at the time of manufacture then thats what they get stamped with. Martin

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

Try one and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then just burn them at 16X until they're gone. Besides, the top speed is only obtained right at the center of the disk.
