Hi Guys,

I have a user who had a hard drive die. They lost everything on the drive except for what they backed up to CD-R right before it died. They are able to restore all of their data except one disc. One can view the files on the disc but can not copy them over to the hard drive. When trying to open them off the disc an error message occurs which reads: "Incorrect Parameters". It sees the files and folders but not the contents of the files. The user said she burned her discs using Roxio. All of her other disc works except this one.

This user is having a break down and I feel really bad because I have never had a user cry like that before in my office. If anyone has any advise on what I should try it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

This is an important question:

Did the user make a data CD-R from selected files, or did she use Roxio's DirectCD to format the CD-R and make it a drag/drop, write-on-the-fly disc?

If it's just a regular Data CD, try copying the files onto another PC. If it fails, try copying only a handful of small files at a time in case one or two of the files originally selected are corrupted. Still failing? Then it sounds like the TOC (Table of Contents) is either corrupt or perhaps there's a scratch on the CD.
