I have a Norstar 0X32 w/VM. Is there a way to have an extension with voice mail with out a telset connected? Right now I have a telset sitting in the phone room with the extension. Any help is greatly appreciated.

THIS IS ASSUMING YOU HAVE DID'S INTO THE N*
Line Programming:
1. Build a Target line, example: 145
2. Enter customer received digits, example: 4598
3. Prime Set: None
Hunt Group Programming:
4. Select a Hunt Group number (1-30)
5. Accept the default Hunt Group Extension that is associated with the Hunt Group
number or make a new one.
6. Add a Member DN to be that of the NAM Voicemail DN.
7. Under Line Assignment, assign the Target Line to the Hunt Group.
8. Shorten the Time Out Que to be the lowest, 15 seconds (default = 60)
9. Make the Overflow extension to be the NAM Voicemail DN.
Mailbox Programming:
10. ADD a guest mailbox
11. Make the Extension of the mailbox to be the Hunt Group Extension.

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

would a guest mailbox allow callers to leave a message? How would I set it up? Thank you in advance

Yes a guest mailbox will allow a caller to leave a message.
But you have to remember that it does not have a phisical ext, so if this guest mailbox is for receiving messages, it will have to be transfered from the Auto Attendant,CCR tree, or a receptionist. Also you will have to check for messages since there is no phone, thus no message indication.
To program a guest mailbox, hit Feat.983, password, Mailbox
add, enter the mailbox number you want to use, when it ask's for an extension, hit the * key. Then enter the class of service you want (13 is good), the name, and make sure it is in the directory. That should do it unless you want to use outbound or alternate ext.

Guest mailboxes may be dialed from AA just like a real extention. They may be integrated in your regular numbering sequence or have a group all their own so you know the difference. If you need a system appearance leave your set in the tels room and as you need them add an answer for each new set to the tels room set. The answer keys need not have any real set attached to them. This is stable and will work.
Guest mailboxes are accessable from outside, will do msg notification and all other functions except have an attached set.
