Hi
My first post in this forum but I would like to
pose a question to the forum

did you have a Data or voice backround before you got involved with CCM

My company want's to get me CCNA certified which isn't bad for my resume but I have a voice backround (Nortel) so I'm not to sure if this is something I should persue or would be interested in.

any response welcomed
Thanks

CCNA is good to have no matter what. But if your network is Nortel or some other vendor's equipment, it will help but it's not perfect. It will get you knowledgeable about switching, IP addressing and routing fundamentals but it is definitely Cisco-centric.

I had a lot of voice experience before I studied data. I had installed and maintained T-1's and the WAN side of the networks before they were called WAN. When a data job opened I jumped at it as I was very interested in moving up from the physical layer. When VoIP then IP Telephony came about it was almost a no-brainer to combine both of my backgrounds.

Thanks for the reply
