Hello All,

We are installing CCE in our office. I am putting together the size of the hard drive for the ms sql server. Does anybody have a suggestion what size of hard drive I need for the server? AVAYA suggest that I get 100 g or more. If I want data to stay in the server for 18 months and I receive 70,000 calls with AHT of 7 minutes, would 100 g suffice or do I need more? Please help.

ezncool,

i guess you plan to use ids for storing historical data, right? you didn't say in which period you get 70k calls, in a day or in a month. even if it's 70k a day and every call takes 1 kb of space -- which is gross overstatement, in reality it takes a hundred bytes or so -- it will be only 36 gb for 18 months. if it's 70k calls per hour, i'd say cce is not a right kind of solution for you. :) it's a good product but it has its limitations, just like any other piece of software.
also be aware that if you plan to use any other cce components besides ids you'll need at least two servers. ids is not too efficient in means of data processing and in high traffic environments it requires a dedicated server, otherwise it'll choke other applications.

thanks dwalin. we get 70k of calls per month. I'm very new on this CCE and do not know much of it. I dont know what ID's are either. I do know that we are going to use it for screen pop with our CRM (salesforce). Thank you for the information, its much appreciated.

ezncool,

70k calls per month is fine with cce. i got a customer who's getting 1m calls per month and cce behaves fine there. however, i see avaya may be misguiding you a bit. IDS stands for Interaction Data Server, that's one of the CCE components. its primary function is to collect cti data on extensions and vdns, process it and make it available to clients -- agent wallboard, etc. its secondary function is storing that data in a historical database. as you may see, all that is completely optional. and mind you, the 36 gb i said about in previous message meant that historical database. if you don't plan to store historical data or use IDS at all, you need less than 1 gb of space for all CCE data tables so it's not worth any trouble whatsoever 'cause these times you can't find a server with less than 30 gb of disk space anyway. :)
