Hello,

Does anyone know of a way in Exchange 5.5 that I can except any e-mail messages for accounts that do not exist and forward them to a specific user??

The problem:

(Part 1) is that one of my domains is being hit pretty hard by some sort of spam or a server that is infected. It is sending mail to every name under the sun @mydomain.com

(Part 2) My Exchange server is trying to bounce back all of theses emails... It is clogging up my outbound Queue...

Any Suggestions would be very greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Rory

You're the victim of a revers NDR attack. Forwarding to another email address won't solve the entire problem and you're proposed catch-all account will just become clogged.

see FAQ10-5018 and thread10-885134

Cheers.

Thanks for the response.. I realize that the account would get clogged... but I was thinking that it is better then being blacklisted for sending mail to "Spam Traps" etc.

Anyway I put in place Symantec SMTP Anti Spam Gateway. I will see how much of this junk it actually cleans up.

Thanks again!

Rory
