Hi,

Hoping someone can help me here.

Does the Catalyst 2950 running IOS 12.0 (5.3)WC(1) support 802.1q VLAN or only ISL?

I have searched the Cisco site and cannot find the answer.

If it does...what is the best way to configure the 802.1q VLAN trunk info?

Thanks in advance.

The 2950 supports only 802.1q; it has never (not will it) support ISL. I think there are quite a few caveats regarding trunking in the older software and I would suggest you upgrade to the latest (free) before trying to set anything up.

Once you are upgraded take a look on CCO regarding trunking:

Good luck

Andy

Really no reason to support ISL anymore seeing 802.1Q is the industry wide standard and ISL is a old cisco proprietary protocol .

I have achieved the required result thanks to you guys.

Much appreciated.
