Do any of you perform catalog archiving utilizing the bpcatarc then the bpcatrm to minimize the catalog size. If so do you perform this command with the -allclients or do you specify a specific client. I am currently in a situation where one particular client is has some very large catalog files and I would like to archive just that clients catalog files?? I am currently performing compression. Does this affect in any way affect my ability to use catarc? Any thoughts or suggestions?

I would like to start archiving everything over 1 year. If anyone is doing this please let us know how things are going.

I attempted this, but ran into support issues when VERITAS pulled back their support on this for 4.5. However, using it in 5.1, I was able to claim space back from large database items for File/Print and Group Share servers. It works like a CHAMP!

You may use -allclients or specify clients.

Hope this helps,

Thanks,
Bob

I decided not to use it. If you archive 200G off your /usr/openv/db/images then 2 yrs later, you need the data back. You will have most likely filled the space again and will need more space allocated so that you can restore the data back into your images..

One caveat to think about
