the independently shielded pairs prevent any interference bwtween the transmit receive or power pairs depending upon the application.
the overall shield prevent any interference on all pairs. must also be grounded at each end
I guess what i'm asking is, for a general PC-router, switch-patch panel, etc application; will the individually shielded pairs have less noise than if there were only an overall shield... how much of a difference do the individual shielded pairs actually make? especially for a run so short..
You will not notice any difference, short or long cables.
Where the difference is noted is when there is interference of some kind such as wireless, radio or alike and the shielding simply discharges the nosie interference to a ground which allows the communication to continue uninterrupted.
Otherwise, if you are not experiencing any issues then you will not notice any differences.
