I'm about to be putting together a new computer for a relative and am looking for a stylish yet cheap case, and would like to know if there are any sites out there that have many cases for sale with easily viewable pictures for them. I usually buy from newegg, but would like to see if there's more variety.

Don't go cheap on the case, get a case that has at least four 5.25" bays and at least tree 3.5" bays. If you get a cheap case the PSU might not be of any good. For power, invest in a midrange Antec PSU.

Last case I bought was $24 shipped and has been running a Palomino XP 1700+ 24/7 since last November; I know what I'm getting in terms of specs.

For this machine, I'm hoping for tops $50-$60, and I refer to them as cheap when compared to, say, a $200 acrylic case.

I just want to know more variety that's out there.

googlegear, colorcases, xoxide, frozencpu...

Your best bet is usually to find a couple cases your interested in than do a google search for that specific case. Usually this will net you the manufacturers website (usually with pictures) and some case reviews (with mor in depth pictures).

I have never seen a retailer on the Internet for Computer Cases with more pictures than Their prices are not that bad either. Might look at
I just bought an A-Open case from new egg and I like it. Lists for $39.99. It is not that roomy on the inside, but it was listed as compatible with ATX, MATX, FLEXATX and had a nice quiet 300w power supply. Works great with my Mini-ITX motherboard from VIA. Almost no noise. I can hear the hard drive clicking around. I am happy with the one A-Open case I have purchased. The case measured 16.5"X16.5" and it had 4 CDROM bays and 3 hard drive/Floppy bays with the sound and USB ports in the front. When I mounted the cdrom it fit perfectly flush with the front. It only allowed 2 6cm exhaust fans. I didnt use any for an ITX motherboard, so that didnt affect my selection. I like my little minimalistic case. It looks not too large, and not too cheap.

A deeper case might be better for a full ATX motherboard, but you just have to worry about the length of the cables to reach the top CDROM bay. A taller case with 2 exhaust fans may be ideal for AMD builds, because it lest you use slower running exhaust fans that make less noise.

Then some people want a case with one 12" fan instead. A lot is personal preference. I think you can put 2 12" fans in an Antec Sonata case, if you like the server design look and dont mind the $100 or so price tag. It is designed to be a little quiter.

Dollar for Dollar, when it comes to quality, it can be hard to beat an Antec Case with an Antec power supply. The worst problem with cases is the selection. You don't know what to buy, because there is too much selection. If you can go to a large computer show or a lan party you might try looking at what kind of cases they are using.

I prefer a case without the locking door on the front. I am not too keen on that style.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Have a look at (or Compgeeks.com).

They have the best prices around. I have the 500SEL- nice, sturdy case, too. I'm looking now at two they have due to wanting both USB & mic/headset on the front panel. This is a tough one to find w/o going into big $$$. These are marked as USB 1.1 because of the cables used to connect the ports to the motherboard- but since I have a USB 2.0 add-in card, it wasn't an issue for me.

FYI,

Mom
