carriage returns in fwrite

i am writing a simple "News" script for my site. it all works except when i use the return key when adding news. i only get the first line of the news. plus the date, which is after the news in the text file doesnt show up.

the txt file holds this news info, like this

TITLE|NEWS|DATE

if the NEWS had any carriage returns, i only the the first line from news and nothing for the date.

any ideas how i can fix this?

Troubleshoot:

1. Inspect the file written with an editor. Does your script write correctly?

2. If it writes correctly the mistake lies in the retrieval.
